A little while ago I posted a quick little breakfast recipe using Pilsbury Crescent Rolls that got me thinking. First of all, I felt almost guilty posting it. It’s so easy and so ridiculously quick to make that I was afraid it was almost insulting to my readers. I mean, wouldn’t they already have this as a go-to? Don’t people come to food blogs for recipe inspiration not validation? Turns out my fears were unfounded, as many of you hadn’t thought of it already and were, in fact, inspired by the idea of stuffing some breakfast foods into a crescent roll and baking them. Thank goodness. Reader crisis averted!
Secondly, it got me to thinking about the beauty that is the Crescent Roll. I don’t know Mick Jagger personally (though the invitation is wide open for a face to face. You know, once that restraining order expires and all**) but I’m pretty sure that he had Crescent Rolls in mind when he penned “Mothers Little Helper.” OK. Maybe not. Maybe he was talking about, you know, DRUGS and all. But for this mother at least, Crescent Rolls rank right up there with caffeine and wine in the “oh thank God these exist” category.
**no actual restraining order is in existence. (to my knowledge).**
These little babies are an answer straight from heaven for moms who are trying desperately to think of something quick and easy to make for breakfast, lunch or dinner that their kids will actually eat. They are so versatile that they span the recipe gauntlet from simple to elegant and for the most part, can be stuffed with anything. Even my pickiest eater, who can be found most evenings making himself an egg sandwich because he won’t eat what mom makes for dinner, will eat whatever I stuff into a crescent.
There’s a reason why they are so popular. There’s a reason why you can quickly get overwhelmed when doing a simple “crescent roll recipe” search on Pinterest. And there’s a reason why Mr. Pilsbury probably owns a private island thanks almost exclusively to them. They’re good. They’re simple. They make family pleasing meals and snacks easy. And at the end of the day that’s what all moms really want, isn’t it?
So in the spirit of my love affair with these little dough sensations, I decided to do y’all a favor by taking the guesswork out of your Pinterest search. I’ve compiled a list of my Top 15 Crescent Roll Recipes to share with you, dear friends. Most of these we have tried as a family to rave reviews, and the ones that we haven’t are on my list to tackle shortly, starting with Cheesy Meatball bites which are on the menu for dinner tonight in the BurntToast household.
This is a post you save. You bookmark. You pin. You come back to it when time is short and inspiration is shorter. Go out and buy yourself a industrial-sized pack of Crescent Rolls, and keep them on hand. Try these recipes out. Let me know your thoughts. And since I, myself, have a giant pack of Crescent Rolls at the ready at almost all times, send me your favorites if you don’t see them on this list. I’d love to give them a try, too.
