The Weekly Edit 6.20

the weekly edit 6.20

Hey Friends, welcome to The Weekly Edit 6.20.

If the theme of last week’s edit was BLUE (which I didn’t realize until one of my sweet friends pointed it out to me), the theme of this week is BRIGHT. Mainly bright pink and orange. This is a shocking discovery, one that I didn’t realize until I put all of these looks together in one place because for years I was known as the woman who lived in grey.

Ok. Not really. But if you had ravaged my closet you would have been overwhelmed with the amount of black, grey, and white in there. Or, underwhelmed, as the case may be.

I credit Alison Lumbatis and Outfit Formulas for teaching me how to use color appropriately and how to bust out of my comfort zone of neutrals. Now I can’t get enough color and love contrasting it with the crispest whites I can find.

This week was casual and comfortable as I was home most of the week with home repairs, but you do get the bonus of not one but TWO date night looks in here. Both of which I am obsessed with and have a sneaking suspicion you might be too.

So enjoy, dear friends, and thank you for the overwhelming support for this new feature. I’m so grateful for you all. More than you know.

Monday: Capsule Wardrobe Fun

Monday was the first day of the summer capsule wardrobe for Outfit Formulas (yes, you can still join–sign up HERE). I love the simplicity of this look and the fact that it allowed me to breathe new life into an old staple–this tank from Stitch Fix that I got last summer. Linen pants are always a comfy option, though I’ll be honest and say I’m on the hunt for a pair of shorts in this neutral color because Texas heat is real, y’all, and pants are a no-go right now.

Tuesday: Casual Summer (plus a hat)

We all know I love a good hat, and that’s why this little fedora had a front and center spot in last week’s WIDW and will be featured in heavy rotation this summer. I love the simplicity of a short and tank look and you’ll be seeing it on repeat a lot this week in different variations. Enjoy!

Wednesday: It’s ALL About The Bag

This outfit might be simple (just a t-shirt and jean shorts) but the entire look hinges on this amazing and beautiful star tote from my friends at Milano and Lace. This was also featured in WIDW and with good reason. It’s adorable, exclusive, and perfect for the beach, pool, or just tooling around town. I’m OBSESSED with it and love how it makes this outfit so fun. Also, I also have an exclusive 20% off your entire purchase code with M&L right now so you might want to run over there and grab it! (the code is ML20–Enjoy!)

Thursday: What You Wear When You Don’t Leave The House

What does one wear when they don’t leave the house? Well, if you’re me, this is what you wear. The most comfortable linen shorts I’ve had in ages, a bright pink tee, and some old sneakers because you inexplicably lost one of your Addidas (seriously, how does that happen?). I love this easy look and am about to grab these linen shorts in a few other colors they’re so comfortable. As a note, I would size up on these because they shrunk a bit with washing.

Friday: It’s Too Hot For Clothes Days

True Story: The outfit formula for today was so cute. It was a gingham dress and bright pink sandals and when I put it on, I fell in love. Except that it was 100000 degrees outside and I just couldn’t bear to wear something that cute just to sweat all over it. So into casual clothes I went, with my new favorite paperbag shorts and old standby tank. The only problem with these shorts is they aren’t available anymore. Don’t worry, though, I found similar ones I think you’re going to love.

Saturday: Yup. Still too hot.

Y’all. It’s still too hot for clothes. That is all.

Sunday: Normal Clothes NOT Required

I will forever be obsessed with loungewear and matching lounge sets are about as close to my love language as good food is. I love this one from Amazon. It’s cute enough to go out in public in (if necessary) yet still comfy enough to trick you into thinking you’re in pajamas all day. It gets softer with each wash, too, which is wonderful.

Date Night Looks

As a super bonus, I’ve got two date night looks this week. By some stroke of magic and miracles, I had two events that required more than cut-off shorts and tank tops. Bless it, this never happens to me. Anyway, thanks to my wonderful in-laws taking my little monsters children for the evening, Jeff and I got a date night on Saturday which let me get a little fancy. But then on Saturday Kenzie and I attended the Texas USAG (Gymnastics Association) dinner for all State Winners. It’s a fancy affair and so fun to see her and all of the other amazing gymnasts get recognized for their effort and hard work. I LOVED my dress for this event and hope you can find somewhere fancy enough to go so you can grab it too.

Friday Date NightL Kinda Chic Kinda Casual

I have had my eye on this bright tank for such a long time that when I finally had a place to wear it I was so excited. It’s a show-stopper and when you pair it with crisp white denim and neutral accessories you look the epitome of summer chic. Also, pay attention to this bag, you’ll see it on repeat this summer as well as in a future WIDW. I’m obsessed.

Saturday: My Version Of Cinderella

I cannot tell you all how much I love this dress. It made me feel like the belle of the ball. Or some other cheesy thing like that. It’s comfortable and lightweight and the pleated, tiered skirt hides a multitude of sins. It’s one of those stand-alone dresses that doesn’t require a lot of adornment and I love how the rattan and neutral accessories allow this dress to shine the way it deserves to.

I hope you love this edition of The Weekly Edit 6.20 (with bonuses). Let me know what looks you’d love to see me create or if you want more of something. I want to help you feel your best every day and to show you that we don’t always look our IG best, and that’s ok.

Peace, love, and Outfits,

Meg
