what i'm digging wednesday 6.29

Hey Folks, welcome to What I’m Digging Wednesday 6.29. This is a summer-y version, filled with goodies for you, for the kids, and for the whole family. It hits all the right notes for my lazy summer days self, perfect for lounging, refreshing, and protection (you’ll understand a bit more when you see the list).

I’ve got some fun special lists in the works right now–think “lazy summer days” list and “it’s so hot I could die” lists. But, in the meantime, I’d love to know what YOU want me to cover. Specific topics? Genres? More book? More fashion? More make-up? I want to know so I can hit all the notes you’re looking for! So drop me a DM or find me on social and message me there. I’ll respond, I promise. And we’ll make something magic happen with your request.

In the meantime, enjoy this one. I know I did!

what i'm digging wednesday 6.29

  1. TikTok Famous Slushie Maker Cup: Never before have I ever uttered the phrase “TikTok made me do it.” And, considering I don’t actually TikTok, I probably will never say it again. But for this one instance and this one fun product, I’ll proudly exclaim it from the mountaintops. TIKTOK MADE ME DO IT AND I DON’T EVEN CARE. In my defense, even without TikTok’s intervention, I would have purchased this cup eventually because the idea of a handheld individual slushie maker is just too good for me to pass up. And pass up I didn’t…snapping this cup up and surprising my kids with it one lazy summer afternoon. And here is my verdict: TikTok didn’t lie. This cup is fun. When adequately frozen (you’ve really got to get it frozen solid or it won’t work), it makes one heck of a slushie. And it’s just a little bit of entertainment for a summer’s day. So far we’ve slushie-fied lemonade, sparkling lemonade (the best), smoothies, orange juice, root beer (the kids favorite), and Coke. Up next: coffee and wine (hey, it could work). The downside to this cup is it doesn’t make a ton, so if you’ve got multiple kids, get each one a cup. It is definitely an individual serving and takes too long to freeze in between uses. You’ll have a mutiny on your hands if you don’t. Otherwise, this is just a fun treat. Grab it HERE and enjoy.
  2. Two-Piece Summer Pajama Set: For most of my adult life, I slept in old t-shirts and any random pair of shorts I could get my hands on. I usually looked like a hobo crawling into bed each night, and I’m lucky Jeff loved me for my witty personality and great dance moves, because it was definitely not an attractive look on my part. A couple of years ago, though, I decided I was adult enough that I didn’t have to look like a ragamuffin at bedtime. I could actually wear matching pajamas. Such a simple revelation, yet a powerful one. I mean, between matching pajama sets and getting rid of dry cleaner hangers in my closet I’m basically living like a millionaire now. Anyway, matching pajamas make me happy. There is no scientific study about this that I can find, but I also believe they make me sleep better. Plus, when the kids have sleepovers I’m not embarrassed to walk about in my jammies because they look kind of like clothes. This set is one of my favorites, too. I have it in shorts for summer and pants for winter and I love how soft it is. Just a simple way to feel like an adult and a put-together human, I highly suggest grabbing some real grown-up jammies if you’re in the “I sleep in my husband’s band shirt from college” sect. You can start with THESE.
  3. Eucerin Age Defense SPF 50: It’s a well-documented fact that when I was in college I worked at a bridal salon to pay my billz. It was there I learned about fashion, Jewish culture (it was in a predominately Jewish part of town), and skincare. I’ll never forget one of my coworkers, a gorgeous older woman named Vera, grabbing my face in her hands and saying “Darling. It’s time to start using a sunscreen every day. And an eye cream wouldn’t hurt either. You can thank me later.” Well, Vera and I lost touch years ago, but if she can hear me somewhere out in the ether, I hope she knows how grateful I am. Because every day since that fateful face-squeezing moment, I’ve worn sunscreen. Even if I’m not leaving the house. I’m particular about them, of course, and only use the physical sunscreens. And I have a whole arsenal. The one I’m loving right now–Eucerin Age Defense SPF 50. I have been really pleased with this one. It’s light enough for summer wear (no shinies here) and works as both a moisturizer and sun protection on days when it’s too hot to wear both. It doesn’t give me a white cast and it smoothes well under makeup or alone. For a drugstore option against higher-priced SPFs, this is a good one. Give it a try! I’d love to hear what you think. Grab it HERE.
  4. Two-Pack of Mason Jar Iced Coffee Cups with Lids and Straws: Y’all know I love me some iced coffee in the summer. I make my own because I’m cheap, of course, but all the same, I am up to two iced coffees a day now with no intention of going back, only forward. Who needs sleep anyway? Just kidding about the sleep part. Regardless, because of this newfound obsession, I knew it was time to upgrade my iced coffee drinking vessels, as my kids’ old plastic cups weren’t quite the aesthetic I was going for. Enter this two-pack of adorable cups and we’ve got a winner. No plastic, all glass, these cups have a thick straw just in case you’re into making your own Boba (I’m not) and a cute little bamboo lid. Do they make my iced coffee taste better? No. Not really. But do they make me feel cuter while drinking it? Absolutely. If you’re an iced coffee or tea or water (or whatever because they will work for anything) girl like I am, grab yours HERE. They’re adorable, fun, portable, and did I mention fun? Oh yeah. They’re that, too.

Thank you for hanging out with me this summer Wednesday and every other Wednesday that you’ve shown up. It’s the honor of my life that you trust me with recommendations for random fun and fashion. I adore being that person for you.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,

Meg
