What I’m Digging Wednesday 2.23

what i'm digging wednesday 2.23

Well hello there, friends. Welcome to What I’m Digging Wednesday 2.23.

This fun little list has a wrinkle cream for women of *ahem* a certain age, my afternoon cuppa tea (and the only tea I’ll drink), the satin pillowcase I never knew I needed, AND an honest and reputable local roofer for my Frisco/Dallas people who got nailed with hail earlier this week.

Random? Yes.

Quirky? Yes.

Perfectly WIDW appropriate? Also, Yes.

what i'm digging wednesday 2.23

  1. Kitsch Satin Pillowcase: A few weeks ago, my salon posted a Reel poking a bit of fun at the ridiculous things their customers do with their hair, then come in and complain about its condition to their stylist as if it is her fault. I watched it with a bit of a smug smile on my face as they rattled off all of these Hair No-Nos like “use drugstore shampoo” and box dye. Because, of course, I don’t do those things. I’m not a heathen. (jk. If you do, no judgment). But then they were like “sleeps on a non-satin pillowcase,” and I was stopped dead in my smug little tracks. SATIN PILLOWCASE? What the what?!?!?! Well, apparently, y’all, a satin pillowcase eliminates frizz, annoying sleep lines, and hair breakage. So whatever, I’m a glutton for Instagram marketing and I grabbed the first one that scrolled down my feed in a mildly suspicious Big Brother way. This one, from Kitsch, is really worth the hype. I don’t have frizzy hair so I can’t speak to that aspect, but I can tell you that I am the worst sleep line sleeper in the history of sleeping and this thing is so soft and wonderful, I haven’t had one since starting to use it. But also, it’s so cool to the touch that I know in Texas summers I’m going to be so happy I’m using it. 2. James Cornhoff at New View Roofing: Ok, friends, this is just for the local people but it’s important enough that I feel like it is WIDW-worthy. As you know if you’re in the North Dallas/Frisco area, we had a massive hailstorm on Monday night. I mean MASSIVE. Golfball-sized hail. Heavy winds. Lightning. Thunder. All the things. And with hail and winds come roof damage, which, of course, brings out the roof vultures who circle over hard-hit neighborhoods like we are prey. By 10 am on Tuesday we already had 4 roofers knock on our door. FOUR. The thing is, I already have a roofer, my client James Cornhoff. Yes, I am partial because I run his social media. BUT, I also know that since working for him I have learned so much about the roofing trade and I know now that it matters who you work with. In Texas you don’t need a license to be a roofing contractor, and many of the door knockers are not local companies, they’re vultures who follow the weather to make a quick buck. James is local. He works with insurance and knows all the ins and outs of the claim process. He fights for his clients and treats every roof like it is his own. OH, and he’s also an honest, no-bull kind of contractor you want to work with. If you suspect you have damage, give him a call at 469.213.0249. Even if you’ve already had someone come out and look, he should be your 2nd or 3rd of whatever inspection (which are always free) and the one to do the job. You can also follow him HERE.

  3. Tazo Zen Green Tea: I have been quoted on record before saying that all tea tastes like “dirty armpit water.” And, like Ted Lasso, I stand behind this statement with everything in my being. However, there is one tea that has worked its way into my heart and my daily rotation, Tazo Zen Green Tea. I can almost hear you saying “now wait a minute, Meg. Isn’t that hypocritical to one day hate it and then the next put it in your WIDW?” OK. Whatever. Maybe. Yes. But, to be fair, this has been a slow-roll of a love affair, not one that happened overnight. I made a conscious effort sometime last year (it all runs together when we’re talking about the pandemic years, doesn’t it) to try to cultivate a taste for tea. After many tries, and an entire stash “borrowed” from my Aunt Melanie, I landed on this one and I dare say I love it. I typically brew a cup in the afternoon after lunch, just when I’m hitting my energy low point yet still have hours of work ahead of me. It’s not sweet. It’s not definitely “tea-like,” but somehow it’s a calming and comforting addition to my afternoon routine. That I actually enjoy. Not the most exciting share, but one I have come to lowkey love. So that’s why this cuppa made the WIDW list. I love it. There, I said it. I love tea. Grab yours HERE.

  4. IT Cosmetics Hello Results Daily Retinol Serum: Always the skincare junkie, this one is a new-ish addition to my age-fighting arsenal, but one that is worthy of a share for multiple reasons. Previously, I was using prescription-grade retinol because I know how important it is as we get older. However, that stuff jacked my skin up as the weather got colder and the air got drier and my face became a peeling mess so I had to stop. I did a little research, though, and found that many of the over-the-counter retinol are just as effective as the ones from the doctor with less irritation. I am sure there is a reason for this, though I’ll be damned if I know it. I just know that for this particular one, it works. I have had zero breakthrough irritation with this soft and velvety cream and I use it every night. Since starting, I’ve noticed my skin is more even and I have more of a glow than I had before. Plus, the container is fun, easy to use, and hygienic, which is always a plus for me. It’s not the cheapest product I have ever used, but I do feel that a little goes a long way and there is no “extra” with the pump dispenser, so I’m hoping it lasts a while. Good for sensitive, dry skin that still needs anti-aging help, this one’s for you! Snag it HERE.

Thank you for hanging out with me today for this What I’m Digging Wednesday 2.23. I hope you find something to LOVE in this one. I for sure did!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
