What I’m Digging Wednesday 3.2

what i'm digging wednesday 3.2

Wow, friends! It’s Wednesday already. Can you believe it? I sure can’t. But, also, I can. Because here I am typing out this week’s What I’m Digging Wednesday 3.2. So there’s that….

This week’s group is one of my absolute favorites. Now, I know I say that with a lot of groups. Or, more accurately, ALL the groups. But this one is near and dear to my heart for a few reasons, which I’ll get to below.

This week we have a sweatshirt dress (yes, a DRESS) that you need in your life because it is so comfortable and so versatile and…well, just wait and read below for more ands. We’ve also got my almond milk maker, the sleep rollers that are saving my hair, and a new (to me) local plant and coffee shop that you all definitely should check out.

It’s a good one. I promise…

  1. TROOP Clothing Refine Hoodie Dress: Ladies. Stop whatever it is that you are doing right now and get this dress. Well, first, read why you need to stop, drop, and shop and then go do it, of course. TROOP is a relatively newish brand that focuses on sustainable, functional, versatile basics for men and women using luxe fabrics and quality craftmanship so it is the opposite of #fastfashion. This speaks to my inner hippie heart, but, when I got the chance to try this Hoodie Dress on and actually try it on,  it became less about how it was made and more about how much I freaking love this dress and how it fits. The perfect casual transition piece, the refine dress can go from carpool to errands to lunch with the girls effortlessly. It can be dressed up or down in so many ways it’s not even funny. And y’all, it’s flattering, too. The perfect length so you’re not always tugging at the hem to pull it down, it also skims the body perfectly so as to be forgiving to bulges but kind to curves. It’s possible to be both, of course. And also, as a side note, it feels so incredible too. Made from 70% polyester blend and 30% fleece, the fibers had to be brushed extensively to get this soft feel (recycled fibers are a bit less soft than traditional). For this reason, the fleece is a bit more delicate than most so you have to take care when washing it or, the option I prefer, wash it less to both save water and the fabric. #winwin for us laundry haters. I love this dress so much I’m dropping a pic below of the three ways I’ve styled it in the two weeks I’ve had it. And the best part? My friends at TROOP are giving my followers an exclusive 25% off of the already discounted sale price until 3/12 with the code MeaghanDress25! This dress won’t last long at this price so go grab it ASAP and then tell me how much you love it (and me) for recommending it. Grab yours HERE (but don’t forget to use the code: MeaghanDress25 for the extra 25% off!) what i'm digging wednesday 3.2

  2. The MioMat Almond Milk Maker: OK. So before you think I have really fallen off the deep end with my inner hippie, hear me out on this one. I use a lot of almond milk. Like. A LOT. It’s not due to an aversion to traditional dairy milk, but rather just a taste preference, but either way, I go through at least a gallon and a half a week. I use it for my oatmeal and my lattes and often in baking. So that’s a lot of buying almond milk, right? That’s a lot of cartons in the recycling bin. That’s a lot of extra additives to keep my milk fresh. And finally, it’s A LOT of dollars. At 3-4 dollars a pop, it really adds up. So, ever the practical person in search of something else new to try and obsess about, I started to research my options. And you know what I found? It’s not hard to make your own almond milk. It creates much less waste. AND it tastes better for pennies on the dollar in comparison. Holy cow. What the what? I can’t believe I didn’t try this sooner. Tomorrow I am sharing an entire blog post dedicated to the whys and hows and the process of making my own almond milk. But, I thought I would give you a headstart by sharing my go-to almond milk maker. Yes, some people make it in their blender. (I don’t think ours is high-powered enough to do so). Yes, some people buy a much more expensive machine that does everything for them. I like this in-between model. After extensive research, it is the best bang for your buck, it consistently makes the best milk, and is cute to boot. Grab yours HERE and stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. I think you might be surprised at how easy it is to make your own!

  3. Kitsch Satin Sleep Rollers: OK. OK. I know I’ve been on a bit of a Kitsch roll these days, sharing the hair towel AND the satin pillowcase, but I am a little obsessed with this brand. The products I’ve ordered are top quality and the prices are really reasonable. Plus, this product, well, it kind of blows my mind. Let’s start by saying my hair is bone straight, fine, but plentiful. There is a lot of it on this head. So when I want to wear it wavy and beachy messy (my preferred look), I have to stand there forever and curl it with a hot iron. When it was longer, it was even worse. So a lot of days lazy old me would just NOT and I’d end up with boring, dull, flat hair from the get-go. So when I saw an IG ad for these sleep rollers, I, of course, figured that Insta was punking me again with nonsense marketing that was listening in to my innermost thoughts. But I was also intrigued. (those mind-reading marketers are spot on most of the time). When I started working with Kitsch and realized I could try these, I was like “OH HECK YES” and got them right away. So here’s the deal. They’re so freaking easy to use. And they actually work. The curls stay in all day and I only have to do a few minor tweaks with the iron in the morning in spots where I didn’t wrap them well. Here’s the thing about these, the longer your hair is, the better they will work, so if you’re a girl with tons of long hair, this might be the item for you. And I really want to try them out during the daytime for an evening event to see if it makes a difference. The only complaint I have is that sometimes I end up with crazy hairs (thus the tweaks with the iron) and I can’t tell if that’s because I sleep like a maniac and am all over the place. I’ll keep you posted on this and also plan on sharing a video or reel with the process so you can see how easy it is. As with all of my Kitsch orders, use the codeMEAGHANDAWSON15 to get 15% off your entire order! Order yours HERE (then use the code).

  4. Habitat Plants + Coffee in McKinney: Oh this place, it speaks to me. It hits me right in my little hippie plant lady heart and sticks. Kind of like COVID did in my household. But, like, in a good way. I visited this little plant and coffee shop for the first time over the weekend with my Aunt and fell in love. Not only was the latte legit amazing (just a plain latte that was smooth as butter and rich and creamy. Not sure how they did it) but it’s filled with gorgeous plants and planters, adorable gifts, and cute little nooks to sit and sip your coffee and chat. The best part, though, is how knowledgeable and friendly the staff is. I have been looking for the perfect plant for my entryway for a while. The light in that spot is weird so my options are limited, however, I have a very specific look I am going for (full, not spiky, big leaves, not long and thin) that doesn’t always match the light requirements. Needless to say, I had questions. They were so kind and indulged my millions of inquiries and even offered to take my name and email and send me a note when new options come in. I was blown away. It doesn’t hurt that this tiny shop is tucked away on McKinney Square, which is, by far, the cutest little square in North Texas (sorry, Frisco, you’ve got a ways to go to get even close) so you can visit Habitat, grab a gorgeous coffee to stroll and then stop on the way out to grab your plants. I sure did. Give them a try, whether you like plants or not. This is the kind of place I pray is able to stick around for a long time. We need more small local businesses and companies that care. And Habitat is definitely one of them. Habitat is located at 214 N. Kentucky Street in McKinney, Texas

Stay tuned for more on my social channels about this week’s items. I will be sharing a few videos and reels about the dress and the rollers and the post about making my own almond milk goes live tomorrow as well. Either way, I hope you find something today to fall in love with and I hope you share that love with others as well!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
