What I’m Digging Wednesday, The DUDE Edition

what i'm digging wednesday the dude edition

This What I’m Digging Wednesday series is now over a year old and within that time it has become, by far, the most popular thing on this blog. Kind of shocking, a little humbling, and definitely the motivation behind my new venture over at meaghanldawson.com (not functional yet–but almost). But never before have I attempted what I am about to do with this very special episode in the series–What I’m Digging Wednesday The Dude Edition, and I’m really excited about it.

This idea all started while we were sitting around the family table on Easter, catching up on our lives, talking about all the things. My brother in law, Weston, who has always been one of my staunchest supporters, turned to me and said “I love your Wednesday series, but what about us men? I’d love to see some cool stuff for us.”

Talk about a LIGHTBULB moment.

Of course, all 3 of my male readers feel left out. I haven’t said BOO about anything they would like. It’s a no-brainer. So I quickly got to work putting together a full list of awesome things dudes can enjoy. In full disclosure, not being a dude there is just no way for me to personally vouch for many of these things. But I can tell you that I trust the retailers, as I modeled this one after my Mother’s Day post and kept my choices to smaller, more personal shops rather than big behemoths like Amazon.

The good thing about this post is it created a waterfall moment where I found so many cool things I couldn’t possibly fit them all into one post. SO, this will either become a recurring part of the series, and/or I’m about to create a master Father’s Day post in a few weeks.

I vote for both.

In the meantime, here you go, Wes. I hope you really enjoy what I found for you.

  1. Fresh Clean Tees Best Sellers Five Pack: I am extremely particular about how my t-shirts fit. I don’t want them too big or too tight. I need the perfect weight of cotton so it’s not stiff and starchy but also not a see-through wisp of fabric. It’s got to be the perfect length and the right cut. Basically, there is one kind of t-shirt I like and that’s it. Why I ever thought men would be different, I’ll never know. Luckily Fresh Clean Tees is around to share affordable, well-cut, perfect-weight, and ultra-flattering tees of all cuts and colors for dudes. Yes, men care about things fitting well, too, because no one likes a misshapen cascade of fabric draping over them like a tent. Right? These tees are all the rage right now and with good reason. I love the idea of the bestseller five-pack because it gives such a great selection of colors that are perfect for everyday wear at a slightly discounted price. But don’t hesitate to scroll around the site for other options, either. They’ve got v-necks, polos, and tanks as well. Everything, for every dude. Grab yours HERE.

  2. Uncommon Goods Kabob Grilling Basket: Here I go again with my love for this little Uncommon Goods shop (see my Mother’s Day post for a long description of why I love it so), but really, what’s not to love about a marketplace for artisans of all kinds? Anyway, in almost every household but my own, the man is the master of the grill. Stereotypical? Maybe. But also based on my limited experience, somewhat true. But if you’re a true grill master, you might grow tired of all the burgers and steaks and dry chicken breasts and want something new and exciting to get your culinary wheels turning. Enter in these cute kabob baskets. Gone are the wooden skewers that catch on fire no matter how freaking long you soak them. Say adios to the metal ones that make the veggies taste funny. Say hello to these handy little baskets that allow you to stack veggies perfectly while also protecting them from falling out, slipping off, and dropping into the grates. They’re not pricey at all, and they’re a great way to get your grill on in a unique, fun way. Grab yours HERE.

  3. Viski European Crystal Rocks Glasses: Jeff is not much of a drinker, but if he is going to put himself a “nightcap” like we’re living in a 1950s romantic comedy, it’s going to be whiskey on the rocks. Well, maybe it’s whiskey. I don’t really know these things. I just know it smells bad, he drinks it over fancy ice, and he probably thinks he is very sophisticated and smart while sipping away at it and trying not to show that his esophagus is on fire. Whatever. I find whiskey to be very manly and something dudes love. But what they might not love is drinking it out of the Crown Royal glasses that came in the gift set they won at the office Christmas party back in 1999. So why not treat the dude in your life (or dudes, treat yourself) to this high-quality yet affordable set of crystal rocks glasses. Durable enough for daily use, yet klassy enough to show the world you’ve made it, it’s a little splurge that screams “Hey! I’m an adult now!” that you should treat yourself to. Of course, don’t forget the fancy ice, which you can make with this mold as well! Grab your glasses HERE.

  4. Ariat Boots: I debated long and hard about putting these boots in because while many of my followers are in Texas, just as many are not and might be all “what the heck” about a pair of cowboy boots making their way onto my feed. But here’s the thing, boots are universal, and Ariat happens to have top-quality boots that aren’t all necessarily COWBOY-esque. They’ve got work boots, casual shoes, denim, hats, chaps (yes, chaps), and, of course, cowboy boots. But what I like about Ariat is they seem to be leading the charge of clothing companies pushing for quality craftsmanship, which is the opposite of the fast fashion you can find in the likes of Target and Amazon, as well as sustainability. Which you know speaks right to my very hippie heart. So why not share this incredible brand that has something for every man, dude, lady, and child? I don’t know. Seems like a no-brainer, right? So scroll around on the Ariat website and find something wonderful to take home. I can guarantee you’re going to be impressed with the items you purchase, no matter what they are.

Oh y’all. I hope you enjoyed this fun little What I’m Digging Wednesday The Dude Edition. I’d love to hear your feedback on what you want more of (or less of) for the entire BurntToast brand. After all, I listened to Wes, why wouldn’t I listen to you, too?

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
