Whew! What a crazy few weeks it’s been. Between the Mother’s Day edition (which you loved), and the What are DUDES Digging special episode last week, this is the first OG What I’m Digging Wednesday 5.11 in a while. Luckily, though, this one brings the heat with some incredible items you are going to fall in love with.

I make up for lost time with the best summer wedges I’ve ever had, a local spa to fall in love with, a cheap mascara for the best almost-falsie look around, and a summer dress you need in every color. Enjoy this one because next week I’ve got a special eidtion as well, more on that to come, and in a few weeks I’ll be migrating this entire series over to my new blog that’s in the works.

Which is the most exciting news of all.

IN the meantime, though, enjoy this one! It’s fun, quirky, and totally real, just as you’ve come to expect from this series!

what i'm digging wednesday 5.11

  1. Born Sea Leather Wedge Sandal: These wedges were an impulse Mother’s Day purchase when I was out at Nordstrom Rack with my mom, searching for shoes for her. Don’t worry, she got some for herself so I wasn’t all selfish. But, even my best of “I’m not here for myself” intentions fell by the wayside when I found these amazing Born wedges for almost half off the original sticker price. I had been searching for a pair of casual wedges that weren’t sky-high for ages with no luck. I love the espadrilles I have, but when I wear them I am at eye level with Jeff, which feels weird, and I look like I’m trying too hard when I pair them with shorts. At least in my opinion. The problem is that I like wedges for everyday wear because they’re more flattering than flat sandals, so I have been on this search for a while. Lo and behold, these wedges are the perfect fit. Not only are they super comfortable, but the wedge also is not too high or too low, and the leather is beautiful and supple, soft enough that the break-in period will be blissfully short on the toes. I have worn them about 4 times since Mother’s Day I love them so much, which is really saying something because it hasn’t even been four days since then. But whatever. I love Nordstrom Rack so incredibly much. Along with LOFT, Target, and Old Navy, it ranks up there with my favorites and steals like these wedges are why. With a great price for an incredible all-summer wedge, you’re going to fall in love! Grab yours HERE.

  2. Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara: Like the wedges, this was yet another impulse purchase that I was not intending to fall in love with. In fact, I grabbed this little tube of mascara on the way out of Target as it hung on an end cap knowing that my beloved IT Cosmetics Blow-Out tube was empty and running on dredges. I had planned on just using this tube until I had a chance to get to ULTA to grab my HG, but somehow I got home, threw this on and WOAH, looks like I am a few dollars richer because Momma does NOT need to go grab the IT tube. At least not for now. This cost-effective eye-wonder works just about the same as the much pricier version. It has a natural brush, which I adore because I can’t get behind the sillicone ones, and it provides an all-day lift and length to my lashes that I love. Do I look like I have falsies on? Not really. Well, not to the extent that we think of when we think of falsies, but I do, at least, look like I’ve got some pretty banging natural lashes. And for $8 a tube, I’ll take that. Grab your tube HERE or wherever you get your drugstore make-up.

  3. Spa Habitat (locations at Shops at Legacy and all around DFW): This Mother’s Day was the first Mother’s Day I have spent with my mom in decades. In fact, it’s one of the first holidays we have spent together in years. So I wanted to make this a memorable exprience for her, one that went above and beyond your normal flowers and a greeting card Hallmark day. Now, my mom is a very natural woman. She doesn’t like a lot of fussing over her or anything “frou-frou” (her words, not mine). She has never had a massage, hates pedicures, and has never had a facial. But she also has expressed that she’s feeling self-conscious about her skin and her age spots and I just somehow knew that she would enjoy a facial. A massage? That’s pushing it. But a facial? She would love it. With some trepidation, I booked us facials at Spa Habitat, a local spa known for its “farm to table” approach to skincare that carries the yummiest line of organic goodies as well. And y’all, not only did she love every second, Spa Habitat went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable, take care of, and pampered the entire time. If you’re local, I highly recommend booking at this wonderful little spa. The people there are amazingly kind, accommodating, and gracious and the services are top-notch. Check out their entire line of products and services HERE.

  4. Target Universal Thread Flutter Sleeve Dress: When the tempertures start rising and the Texas weather goes from “oh what a temperate winter we have” to “Oh my gosh we’re standing on the face of the sun” in the blink of an eye, there is nothing I love more than a simple dress. Sure, shorts are great, but when it is officially stick-to-your-carseat weather, there is nothing better than a breezeway right up to your unmentionables to keep you cool(ish). And y’all, I think I have found my dress of the season. This Flutter Sleeve Dress is a gauzy, lightweight, shirt dress with short flutter sleeves and, wait for it….POCKETS. It comes in multiple colors–I have black and olive and I’m keeping my eyes open for a restock of the yellow and blue–and is the lightest breeziest dress I’ve had in ages. Dress it up with wedges and a hat (it looks great with the Born Wedges above) or dress it down with a jean jacket and sneakers. Either way, this flattering flowy dress will be on repeat in your summer closet. PLUS, it’s only $20 so it’s a steal for such comfort and style! Grab yours HERE and be sure to snag every color you can. It’s adorable!

Thank you so much for hanging out and loving this series! As I said above, there are some exciting and new things on the horizon for both WIDW and the burnttoast brand as a whole, so stay tuned! It’s gonna be a fun ride!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
