what i'm digging wednesday 10.5

Hey Friends! Happy Wednesday and welcome to What I’m Digging Wednesday 10.5.

After last week’s mega Denim post, I’m sticking with a theme here, highlighting some of my favorite fall picks. From a classic pearl earring that is slowly overtaking my hoops, the utility jacket I wear at least 3 times a week, the clutch you’ll be seeing on repeat in my OOTDs, and the mega concert you can watch online to get all your nostalgia 90s/2000s rock vibes going.

Truly another random and fun list and I hope you can find something to fall in love with on here. And if you do, go ahead and treat yo’self. You deserve it, right?

What I’m Digging Wednesday 10.5

  1. The Kimberly Clutch from The Glam Gypsy: If you have been following me for any amount of time, you know that I am mildly obsessed with my friend Staci’s boutique The Glam Gypsy. I have been a faithful “Gypsy” for a few years now and love how Staci somehow manages to curate a collection of classic pieces with a twist. She never goes in for trends, but just finds the BEST pieces that are unique enough to not be found at Target (nothing but love for you, Target, but still) with reasonable prices. I featured a few of her tops in my Denim Round-Up but my absolute favorite piece I picked up from her this fall is this versatile clutch. I mean, how cute is it? There isn’t much I don’t love about this one, and trust me when I say it will be on repeat this fall (and winter and spring and summer). It can easily be used for brunch, lunch with the ladies, date night, or just for an outfit where your regular old purse doesn’t quite work. I am obsessed with this thing. And you will be too. Grab yours HERE and be sure to follow Staci, too. Truly supporting small and gaining access to the best fashion around. You won’t regret it (though your wallet might).
  2. The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert It’s no secret that I am a true blue rock and roll fan. I cut my teeth on classic rock (well, classic to the 90s) like The Beatles, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, and The Rolling Stones. And spent my formative years with Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and the entire Seattle grunge scene traveling through my veins and feeding my angsty soul. So it should be no surprise that I am still a rock ‘n roll lady at heart. In fact, one of my favorite bands is The Foo Fighters, and not just because I find Dave Grohl to be one of the most endearingly awesome rock stars of all time. Their music always gives me life and fills me up, and when news of drummer Taylor Hawkin’s death broke over the summer I felt it on a deep level. So when Dave, in all of his awesomeness, organized a tribute concert for his friend and bandmate filled with rock ‘n roll royalty like Paul McCartney and Chrissy Hynde, I was ALL IN. What I didn’t expect was to wind up in tears as the band played “HERO” with Hawkin’s young son banging away on the drums. I felt like I was watching him bang out his grief and it was real, raw, and visceral. Anyway, this concert is currently available on HULU and is not to be missed, especially for all kids of the 90s grunge-era rock ‘n roll lifestyle like me. Set aside a few hours and just revel in rock and rolls finest. You will be so glad you did.
  3. LelayLuisa Sertos Pearl Hoops: Another small business I have stumbled upon as of late is LelayLuisa. This up-and-coming jewelry brand reached out to me a month or so ago and offered me a few of their pieces to review. After scrolling through their gorgeous offerings, I was all in for giving them a try (and you know I’m choosy when it comes to my partnerships). It’s no secret that I’m a classic jewelry kind of gal. I rarely change from my simple, clean, and sometimes vintage accessories. I love classic hoops, the 2-cent piece I wear on a chain, and some bangles. Simple. Easy. Clean. So when I saw that their aesthetic matched my own, I was in. Now rumor has it that pearls are the new hoops and are making a major comeback, so my top choice was the Sertos Pearl Hoop. I love how they are a little bit “extra” and a bit more substantial than my typical hoop and how they’re incorporating this on-trend pearl that also will remain a classic for ages. They look great with everything and are an awesome addition to my jewelry rotation. (I also chose the Beyonce Ring and Nuori Chain to round out my set–more on them later) No matter what piece you fall in love with from this new brand, I think you’ll be pleased. So check them all out and don’t forget to grab your pearls, you’ll be so on-trend classy you won’t even know what to do with yourself. And for a special discount, use the code MEAGHANDAWSON for up to 80% off (yes, you read that right–I had to double check as well. Discount varies by item as far as I can tell).
  4. The PERFECT Utility Jacket: If you follow my OOTD posts in my Instagram stories, you know that my utility jacket makes frequent appearances. I LOVE this thing. The perfect lightweight layer for our fake Texas fall weather, it is also an incredible topper, adding a little extra to an otherwise basic outfit. My favorite way to wear it is with a white tee and jeans, but I’ve been known to throw it on over dresses, skirts, and just about anything else I can find. In full disclosure, the one I own has a zip-off hood which makes it extra versatile and this particular one does not. HOWEVER, I have this one in a lighter color and it is nearly identical in cut other than the hood. So go ahead and throw on a hat for rainy days and call it even. Either way, this is a jacket you will keep in your wardrobe for a long time to come and you will be surprised at how much use you get out of it. I know I was. So grab yours HERE and get ready to fall in love.

Thanks so much for hanging out with me on your Wednesday. Enjoy these finds and stay tuned for more to come next week!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
meg
