What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.28

Hey Folks–Happy What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.28 day! It’s not a national holiday yet, but I’m working on it.

OK. We all know there is no chance of anything even close to that happening, but can we all at least agree that we really love this quirky fun little segment that brings a little sunshine right into the middle of the week? I’m sure we can. Because this week we’ve got a feel-good movie everyone needs to watch, the budget-friendly skincare line I’ve been crushing on, a new brand of flannel that screams FALL, and the tiny little multi-purpose jars I’ve been using on repeat.

Yes, just as random as ever. But that’s what makes it fun, right?

So without further adieu, here we go. It’s time for What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.28

what i'm digging wednesday 9.28

  1. 8-ounce Overnight Oats Jars: Now it’s no secret that I’ve been on an overnight oats kick lately. I shared five recipes I’ve been making on repeat in last week’s recipe blog and am still running hot and heavy with my breakfast love affair. But what you might not know is that when I first started on this little oats bender, I didn’t have jars to put them in. Well, that’s not true. The truth is even worse. I had jars, quite a few of them actually, but over the years while the jars stayed around the lids decided to up and go missing so instead of a securely lidded jar of oats, I had a jar of oats covered in (wait for it…) aluminum foil. Not exactly Fort Knoxx over here. After a while, though, I reminded myself that I am, in fact, an adult with enough cash to get actual jars with actual lids and that I should treat myself accordingly. So that’s what I did. And these little jars are solid gold, I tell you. SOLID gold. The perfect size for an individual serving of oats, they also would be perfect for packing yogurt or sauces to-go for lunch or for storing various odds and ends around the house. Coming in a set of 6, they are a great deal and just make perfect sense for oats-obsessed people like myself. Need some new jars? Grab yours HERE.

  2. The Fundamentals of Caring: This past Saturday night the Aggies were playing. This means, if you know anything about my family, I was a football widow. Jeff took himself upstairs to the media room, away from any human interaction (he likes to watch alone) and I had an entire blissful evening with total control of the remote. This never happens, y’all. Normally I would just watch Dateline like any other red-blooded middle-aged American woman, but this particular weekend I decided to go rogue and pick out a movie. I settled on this one, The Fundamentals of Caring, and I am so glad I did. This film is hilarious, with Paul Rudd (that gosh darn American treasure who never ages) at his very sarcastic quick-witted best sparring with Craig Roberts, who is also a comedic genius. But it’s also so incredibly touching. Rudd plays a man who suffers tremendous, life-altering loss and in its wake signs up to be a caretaker for a young man with Muscular Dystrophy. Both heartbreaking (we’re talking a full box of Kleenex for me) and uplifting, this film absolutely made my Saturday evening. Some of the content is mature, so I would caution against watching it with young children, but it’s just the film you need to feel good, feel human, and have a little hope again. Check it out on Netflix or watch the trailer HERE.

  3. Flag and Anthem: It’s not often that I share an entire brand on WIDW. Usually, I stick with a certain product or item, but Flag and Anthem came across my radar a while ago and I’ve just been obsessed ever since. This American-made brand is filled with the softest flannels, the coolest graphic tees, and the best comfiest henleys I’ve ever seen. Originally a menswear brand created by two guys who had been in the clothing industry for years yet were underwhelmed by the quality and style of most men’s brands on the market, they expanded to women’s clothing in 2021 and have hit the ground running. With an impeccable cut, quality material (wait until you feel their flannels), and unique pieces, this is a line of clothing you can feel good about wearing. Oh, and if you’re a country fan, they partnered with Dierks Bentley on the Desert Son clothing line, so that’s pretty cool too. Check out the entire brand HERE and stay tuned as I share my favorite pieces in the upcoming weeks.

  4. The E.L.F. Holy Hydration Line: It’s no secret that I’m kind of a skincare junkie. I have a drawer full of various lotions and potions and am always on the hunt for new ones, no matter how much I love my O.G.s. I’m also somewhat of a skincare snob. Those years at Saks don’t just disappear without leaving their mark and I’ve been known to fork over a pretty penny for good quality skincare, much to Jeff’s chagrin. But the other day I was in a rush and needed a new night cream. I didn’t have time to go to multiple places and needed to get dinner ingredients, snacks for the kids, AND some moisturizer. Which, of course, means I was at Target because where else can you get all of these things and a latte? Yet I digress. I grabbed the Holy Hydration Moisturizer on a whim, thinking that if I hated it I would only be out $8. The good news, though? I didn’t hate it. In fact, I LOVED it. So much so that I grabbed the eye cream as well. Super budget-friendly, relatively clean, and simply effective. If you’re in the market for a new line, I suggest this one whether or not you’re on a budget. You can always start with this mini-set and go from there. But you definitely should try. It’s a good one for cheap. And that’s always in style.

Thanks for hanging out with me on this (not yet a) national holiday. I love Wednesdays, and I hope you do too.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,

Meg
