What I’m Digging Wednesday 11.02

what i'm digging wednesday 11.02

Can you believe it’s NOVEMBER already? I sure can’t. I’m not certain if it’s because we were hotter than Hades here in Texas until just a few weeks ago or if because I’m just getting older and time is flying faster, but I feel like we blinked and my favorite month is among us. I’m so excited about all things holiday this year. I love the food, the clothes, the decorations, all of it. And I’m so excited to share it with you. Now, this What I’m Digging Wednesday 11.02 isn’t necessarily holiday-related (unless you’re buying gifts for yourself) but, it’s still a good one and I hope you’ll fall in love with the quirky things I’ve found this week.

And don’t forget, if you’re an early bird holiday shopper, I’ve got gift guides for darn near everyone on your list (him, her, teens, and everyone else). So check them out and find something good for the ones you love. Even if it seems too early, trust me, it’s not. You do not want to wait until the last minute like some people.

*It’s me. HI. I’m the problem it’s me.*

Anyway, here’s to another great Wednesday filled with good, clean fun. ENJOY!

What I’m Digging Wednesday 11.02

  1. Soy and Scallion Noodles: Oh my soul. I know this is a weird one, y’all, but I can’t help it. I discovered this package of Soy and Scallion Noodles over the weekend when I was searching for Dillon’s favorite microwavable chow mein noodles (don’t judge). I couldn’t find his noodle of choice but stumbled upon this little best-kept-secret noodle and am now obsessed. Y’all know I have a secret soft spot for ramen of all kinds, but these wavy noodles might just eclipse the traditional. Serve these quick-cooking noodles up with a six-minute egg, some sauteed veggies, and the actual sauce from the packet (no need to sub–it’s better than anything you can make). Throw some sesame seeds on top and a squirt or two of Sriracha and prepare to fall in love. Holy smokes, y’all. They’re available at Target and you will thank me later for this one. So stinking good.
  2. Target A New Day Pleated Sleeve Sweatshirt: This fall I’ve been on a sweatshirt kick. Not sweaters, but sweatshirts. Maybe it’s because I’m working at home a lot these days, buckling down and not really going anywhere most days. Or, maybe it’s just because I freaking like to be comfortable, but there is nothing better than a sweatshirt for all the cozy fall vibes. The good news is that nowadays, companies are getting the message that we want to be comfy but not look like we’re wearing a tent and are designing cute and comfortable sweatshirts. This A New Day pleated sleeve sweatshirt is the perfect example. It’s soft and cozy, but with extra sleeve detailing and a cute front seam that makes it feminine and adorable. I grabbed it in two colors and might go back for more. As a sizing note: it fits TTS, however, I sized up because I always have a problem with Target clothes shrinking on me. So I highly recommend doing the same. Get yours HERE.
  3. New Balance Sneakers: I’d like to take a moment of silence for my beloved Adidas Grand Court Sneakers. I wore those babies for so long that they wore down to basic nubs and hurt my feet every time I put them on. So, sadly, they had to go. I decided to shake it up a bit with these adorable New Balance sneaks and I’m so glad I did. With just a hint of my favorite green in them, they’ve got a sportier feel that is a bit more on-trend. And, they’re so comfy. A definite upgrade from my dirt-speckled Adidas, I love these kicks. Unfortunately, so does Kenzie. She keeps stealing mine. Oh well, that tells me that I’m at least cool with 12-year-old style and that’s saying something. Get yours HERE.
  4. The Great Santini: This is a book that’s been on my to-read list for a long time. It’s one of my mom’s favorites and I don’t know what has taken me so long to get to it. But oh dear reader, I’m so glad I did. They just don’t write books like this anymore. The story is nothing spectacular. It’s about a family with a complicated dad you hate and love at the same time and the tangled webs we weave within our home unit. However, the writing in this book takes my breath away. The dialogue is witty and sharp. Conroy’s use of language drops you right into the story and you feel it rather than read it. And it just flows. Now, as a disclaimer, there are a lot of offensive things in this book. It’s not for the faint of heart and it’s not an easy read at times. However, I think it’s an accurate portrait of a lot of the ideas and beliefs of the time and place, and I’m not one who believes we should forget that those ideas ever existed. Because if we forget about them, they breed in the dark. Just like mold in the back of the fridge. Anyway. This isn’t the easiest read. But oh my goodness it’s gorgeous. Find it at your local library or here.

Thank you so much for continuing to hang out with me every single Wednesday. It’s so much fun to share these random favorites with you every week and it’s one of my greatest joys that you love them too.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
