What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.21

what i'm digging wednesday 9.21

Well hello there, Friends! It’s Wednesday again and we’re back with another episode of your favorite mid-week list, What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.21.

It’s been nothing short of a crazy one over here at the Dawson household, with sports, birthdays, and a huge project I’m trying to finish up, there haven’t been too many minutes to spare. But that’s ok. Because at the end of the day, all of these things are special and ones that I love (even the huge project) so I feel blessed to get to do them all.

But, with every week no matter how crazy, Wednesdays do come, and with every Wednesday comes a fun new list filled with the quirky, randomness you know and love that we call WIDW. So, without further adieu, here we go with…

What I’m Digging Wednesday 9.21

what i'm digging wednesday 9.21

  1. NYDJ Trouser Jeans: Girls, I know that you probably wore wide-leg jeans in the early aughts. And I know that those wide-leg jeans were so long they swept the floor behind you, getting dirtier and dirtier as you went, probably earning themselves a few holes in the hem along the way too. I also know that they might, if you are of a certain age, have been so wide that a whole separate human leg could have fit in there with you, and that they were probably by JNCO, too. Don’t freak out, Ladies, but wide-leg jeans are back. Lucky for us, though, these are not your daughter’s wide-leg jeans. (or yours from the 2000s). Literally. They are by the brand NYDJ (Not Your Daughter’s Jeans) and they are polished, flattering (just look at that long leg line) and so flattering. I snagged these a few weeks ago in my fall closet overhaul–more on that later–and instantly fell in love. They make my legs look longer, which is saying something because they are NOT, and they’re a bit dressier than regular wide-legs with a trouser-like appearance. I adore these jeans. They pair well with heels and booties, and are the perfect bottom to throw on for fancier nights out, meetings, or anytime you want to relive your early 20s, but better. Grab yours using this link!

  2. PBS’s The US and the Holocaust: This isn’t a fun one, per sea, but it’s maybe the most important WIDW item I’ve ever shared. PBS’s The US and The Holocaust premiered last night across the nation. A six-hour series broken into 3 two-hour episodes, the first one was heavy, as I’m sure they all will be. As hard as it was to watch, though, I forced myself to sit and pay close attention, no books, no scrolling, through the whole 120-minutes. Because this matters. Directed by Ken Burns in his iconic style, this mini-series tells of the Holocaust from the beginning through to the end with a heavy focus on how the US and other countries refused to intervene, long after they were aware of the massive human toll it was taking. Dissecting anti-semitism and group think, it draws an eerie parallel to some of today’s rhetoric and current events and serves as a warning and a reminder. Both of which are things we need on the regular. I think this should be required watching for all of us. Just like books that cover these sensitive topics (and are at risk of being banned across the country), we can’t be better if we don’t recognize where we were not great, and this is one of those areas where we were decidedly not great. So watch. Talk about it with your kids. We say we won’t forget, but we are. So don’t let that happen. You can watch it on any local PBS station and stream it on their website as well.

  3. Mike’s Hot Honey: And now for something a bit easier to talk about, but a lot weirder, I want to tell you about my latest obsession: HOT HONEY. I feel as if I’m late to the game on this one, as I know Hot Honey has been around for a while. But holy smokes, y’all, why didn’t you tell me about this little culinary game-changer before? I rolled up on a bottle of this little gem a few weeks ago as I was searching for my regular old (now boring) everyday honey and decided to be bold and go all in. I mean, I love honey and I love hot things, where could this go wrong? Good news! It didn’t. I graduated very quickly from a hot honey newbie to a hot honey pro and now put it on damn near everything. Berries? Hot honey. Bananas? Hot honey. PB and honey sandwiches? Hot honey. Chicken? Hot honey.  Sausage and Eggs? Hot honey. Do you see the trend yet? Anyway, if you are someone who loves a flavor juxtaposition as I do, this is something you’ve got to try. The perfect balance of sweet (which hits first) and hot (which comes in second), this condiment is a fun little addition to your dipping sauce game. Grab yours HERE and prepare to put it on EVERYTHING.

  4. Charles Tyrwhitt No-Iron Men’s Button Down Shirts: It’s been ages since I have shared a WIDW for the Dudes, so I wanted to incorporate at least one item in this week’s list that is strictly for the men in our lives. To do that, I polled the only man who I have polling access to, Jeff, and asked him what favorite thing he has that you might want to know about. His answer was simple: Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts. I should have known that this would be his answer. He has been exclusively ordering from this British company for years now, so much so that I have taken to making fun of him every time a package shows up. I do this for two reasons 1) I cannot, for the life of me, pronounce the name and 2) because he hides them much as I do my Amazon packages. As if I wouldn’t notice the three (or thirteen) new shirts hanging in the closet. Regardless, these no-iron shirts are his go-to work attire and he has about 20. They require no ironing (which if you remember this gem you know that’s a bonus for me) and they fit like a dream because he is able to custom order to his exact measurements and fit preferences. Made of cool and breathable cotton poplin, this one takes him from the boardroom to the ball field on days when he doesn’t have time to change and he looks crisp all day. If you’ve got a business casual guy in your life, he needs a few of these shirts. Once he tries them, he won’t go back. And, as an added bonus, if you use THIS LINK you get FOUR shirts for $239, which is a savings of almost $235. You can’t beat this company. Excellent customer service. Impeccable British tailoring. All at reasonable and accessible prices. Get yours today.

Again, thank you for hanging out with me each and every Wednesday. I see you showing up and clicking my links and I am humbled every single time. I can’t wait to share some more fun lists I’m working on with you in the coming weeks. I’m working on a must-have denim post and a LOFT Fall Haul. So much goodness, so little time. I’m grateful to you all and hope that your Wednesday is wonderful, just like you!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,

Meg
