Hey Friends, long time no talk! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Well, the holidays are over. The chaos of our end-of-the-year medical emergencies has passed (if you follow me on socials, you know what I’m talking about). And all is well. This means it’s time for a massive What I’m Digging Wednesday, The Catch-up Edition, for your reading pleasure!

This catch-up list is chock full of all the things I’m been digging since the end of November. There are clothes, skincare, shows, and all the things on this list. As an added bonus, I also popped on a list of my repeat offenders–the things that made previous WIDW that I’ve been crushing on extra hard lately.

There’s so much goodness here. I hope you find something to fall in love with.

Oh, and if you don’t know, I’m launching a book club this month. After hearing from y’all that you love my book choices and fielding many requests to start this thing, I bit the bullet and am giving it a try. The first book choice is an incredible one, Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen, and the first pacing guide has already been sent out. Haven’t hopped on it yet? There’s still time. We won’t meet until the end of February and this group is shaping up as a dynamic one filled with a ton of incredible women. Sign up here (works best on the computer) and get to reading!

Now, without further adieu, here we go!

What I’m Digging Wednesday The Catch-up Edition

  1. Drunk Elephant Marula Facial Oil: During the winter months my skin likes to get all panicky and acts like the Sahara Desert. I suffer from itchy, flaky patches and when the heat runs non-stop I’ll even get red patches across my cheeks. It’s not a fun time. I will always (and I mean always) love my go-to facial oil from The Ordinary, especially since it is so cost-effective. But for my birthday my Mother-In-Law gave me this Marula Oil from one of my favorite brands, Drunk Elephant, and it’s a close second, if not edging out the OG for first. This oil is light and quickly absorbed so it can be worn under makeup without turning you into an oil slick but it packs a powerful hydration punch. I use it every morning under my moisturizer (my go-to right now is La Roche Posay Tourmaline SPF 30) and it’s helped keep that itchy annoyingness at bay. Definitely a splurge, but you use such a tiny amount it should last for ages and it’s worth it for parched skin that needs relief. Get it HERE.
  2. The Adidas Women Saturday Relaxed Fit Adjustable Hat: We all know I’m a sucker for a good hat. They look fashionable and cover a multitude of dirty hair day sins. I’ve never really been into the baseball cap thing, though, unless I am outside working in the sun. That all changed when I found this adorable Adidas Saturday Relaxed Fit Hat. It’s basic enough that you can wear it without feeling like you’re trying too hard. Which, let’s face it, sometimes you do feel that way when you’re in a fedora walking around Target on a random Tuesday. Just saying. It’s a slightly distressed black that goes with everything and it’s small enough to fit my tiny little head. Perfect for the uber-casual stay-at-home style that I’ve been rocking lately, and a fun and classic addition to any wardrobe. As a side note: I just realized that I have been spelling Adidas (Addidas) wrong for my entire life. No worries, I’ll just be over here freaking out over the fact that no one ever bothered to correct me on this one. Anyway, head over and get your hat HERE.
  3. MOTHER The Tomcat Jeans: First of all, I would like to apologize upfront for this one. I am normally not this bougie and would never really think it’s ok to purchase a pair of $200+ jeans for myself. Especially with Mr. Accountant Jeff going through all my receipts with a fine-tooth comb. But, I randomly came across these Tomcat jeans on super discount at Nordstrom right before Christmas (just checked and they are still on sale, too) and decided I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Well, the fuss is warranted and now I’m kind of in a pickle because I want ALL the MOTHER jeans. The Tomcat is a relaxed fit, distressed jean that borders on a boyfriend cut. I sized up two sizes upon the recommendations in the reviews, but wish I had only gone one as they have a fair amount of stretch to them and now they’re a bit too baggy. Nonetheless, they are flattering from all angles and comfortable beyond what I’m used to in a pair of jeans. They’re my go-to casual jean now and I can’t say enough about them. Get yours HERE.
  4. The Bear on Hulu: I am not much of a tv watcher. But when I like a show, I really like a show. Case in point, The Bear on Hulu. I binged the entirety of the first season in two days which might be a record for me. But it’s so good. As someone who has worked in the food industry, I can tell you it’s so well done. The stress, the drama, the behind-the-scenes chaos–all true. It’s so true to life I thought I was watching a reality series until halfway through the second episode. The acting is superb, the drama is intense, and the story is so real. A little gritty and not safe for the children, it’s a great watch for foodies, restaurant industry vets, and people who love good shows.
  5. Two-Head Grow Light: If you’re a plant lover like I am, or just a wannabe hippie, you might be on the winter sunlight (or lack thereof) struggle bus. I know I am. My plants have been dropping like flies since the time change. They’re getting less light every day and they are suffering. Turns out, there’s a solution to this, y’all. And it was not an expensive one. I grabbed this two-headed grow light on Amazon and after Jeff so kindly put it together for me, I saw a major change in the liveliness of my bedroom plants. Gone are the sagging leaves and dropping flowers. They’ve come back to life. I love that you can program this to go off after 3, 6, or 9 hours, and it gives just enough light to help keep plants of all kinds happy. The adjustable necks allow me to cover both sides of my plant corner and it has saved me a lot of money in replacement plants in the long run. If you’re a plant person struggling with the lack of light in the winter, this is a great fix you need to snag for yourself. Get it HERE.
  6. Hamilton Watch: Jeff is a watch guy. He’s got four or five really nice watches, a watch winder box (don’t ask me, I can’t explain it), and even a coffee table book about watches. It’s kind of his thing. For my part, I’ve never quite subscribed to the watch game, so when I opened up this fancy box on my birthday and this delicate, classy Hamilton watch was in it, I didn’t really know how to react. Actually, yes I did. I was touched that now I can share in Jeff’s watch love. And this watch is perfection. Classy with a go-with-everything style, it pairs perfectly with bangles or a bracelet stack. It’s a timepiece I will keep forever, not just a watch, and more than that it’s something from Jeff, sharing in one of his favorite things. And that’s the most important part. Get yours HERE.

Honorable Mentions: The Repeats I’m Loving Right Now

Because it’s been so long since I’ve dropped a WIDW, I thought it would only be fair to share this list of the WIDW veterans I’ve been digging lately trust me, there are quite a few).

Vuori Joggers: All day, every day lately these have been my go-to. Super soft. Cozy. A splurge, but you’ll wear them all the time.

New Balance Sneakers: Just like the joggers, these have been my constant footwear choice as I’ve been living a more casual life. Available in a ton of colors and super cute, you should probably grab a pair.

Purity Face Wash: When the weather turns cooler and the heater comes on, my normally oily skin tends to dry out a bit. This creamy foaming cleanser is my go-to for the winter months. It cleans without stripping and leaves my skin so soft.

Nourish, Move, Love Workouts: I have been on a full-out binge of Lindsey’s workouts, completing her two-week 20-minute functional training program twice in a row. I love how quick her workouts are but also how much of a butt-kicking she gives. I have seen gains in my strength since starting and love how motivated I am to get at it each day. She’s also super cute and fun, so that helps (and they’re free!).

Derry Girls on Netflix: Not a repeat, but please, just watch this show. This Irish tv show is absolutely hilarious and the quirky sense of humor is dead-on for my Irish family. I love it so much that I’m binge-watching it right now during our mid-week ice shutdown in Dallas.

Thank you so much for hanging out with me in this catch-up edition of WIDW. Look out for our regular weekly series to return in a few weeks and also some new and exciting things are on the horizon as well. Also, join the bookclub. It’ll be fun! I promise!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,

Meg
