What I’m Digging Wednesday The FACE Edition

what I'm digging wednesday the face edition

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done one of these, so instead of just a normal WIDW, I’ve decided to combine a few of my different categories and bring you a super-sized What I’m Digging Wednesday the FACE Edition.

Since my last make-up and skincare round-up articles, I’ve found quite a few more favorites and fallen in and out of love with some new skincare and makeup items. I thought about just revising the old articles, but instead really wanted to create a new “one-stop shop” with all of my new obsessions in one place to make your lives easier.

A few disclaimers–these are NOT bargain items. Well, all but one aren’t. The older I get, the more I’ve realized that when it comes to my skincare and my makeup, quality really does have a price tag and there are very few things that I use anymore that are not on the pricey side. I know this might seem prohibitive to some readers, but I have also found that when I’m using higher quality products, a little goes a long way allowing me to get more bang for my buck from each purchase. There are, of course, amazing dupes out there and budget-conscious items available on all levels. But for the purpose of this article, I’m just using the ones I have on repeat and have made a true difference in my life.

That being said, I highly recommend checking these out for yourself. I have included the Amazon links (which I am an affiliate of) but for makeup purposes, getting your skin matched is really important. The foundation match I received at my local Ulta is eerily similar and I have never had such a close “my skin but better” appearance. But, of course, if you know your skin and can choose accordingly online, by all means, you do you.

So without further adieu, here is the definitive list of my absolute favorite What I’m Digging Wednesday the FACE Edition items.

what i'm digging wednesday the face edition

  1. IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Cleanser: Ladies….stop what you are doing and snag this tube of luscious cleaning magic. For the first time maybe EVER I have found a cleanser that takes every single thing off without drying my skin like the Sahara Desert. This tube of wonder works magic for my combo skin. Just a little dab on wet skin works into a gorgeous creamy lather that wipes even the stubbornest makeup off of my face. No extra toner or cleansing is required. I LOVE this cleanser and am a true convert. The tube is pricer than my previous faves, but I also feel as if I use less with each wash so it hopefully will balance out. Ladies, I can’t stress this enough. You NEED this cleanser. GO. NOW. Get you some! Grab it HERE.

  2. IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream: Just like its partner cleanser, this is a newfound obsession that I credit with bringing my skin back from the brink of disaster. A few months ago, as the weather started to change and a little chill started to creep in, the skin on my chin went flat-out berserk. It was scaly and rough and itchy and peely. Almost out of nowhere I started to look like a lizard, without the cool tongue. Nothing was working–not even my beloved The Ordinary Rose Hip Oil (which I still use, by the way). So in the same shopping trip in which I grabbed the cleanser, I picked up this cream, and within a few days the combination of both saved my skin. I use it both morning and night, though they do also have a night cream I have my eyes on for my next purchase, and it works just as well during the day without being greasy as it does at night giving me baby soft skin in the morning. For ladies or gents with combo to dry skin that is on the “maturing” side, this is a gem that cannot be undersold. Snag your bottle HERE.

  3. SuperGoop Glow Screen: For ages, I was a fan of Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen and while I love it still, this updated version with a hint of glow is a tired face’s best friend. I use it over my moisturizer almost as a primer before my foundation (which doesn’t have SPF so it’s a necessary step) and I’m OBSESSED. It’s not shiny or glittery, just glow-y, and it works just as well on its own as it does under makeup. If your skin is on the oily side SG also has a matte formula that borders on a tinted moisturizer that works like a charm too. Grab yours HERE.

  4. Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation: Oh this bottle of perfection! If I was a poet I would write a sonnet about this one. This foundation gives me all the feels. It is light and feels weightless on my skin, has the perfect buildable coverage to allow you to go a little or a lot, depending on your needs. It lasts all day and, friends, it makes my skin look darn near perfect. This is NOT a cheap foundation, so I’ll give you the warning that you might have some sticker shock, but it’s so light it’s taken the place of my tinted moisturizer. I wear it almost daily except for my laziest days, where I just use the Glow Screen. It’s literally a little bottle of magic and I’m surprised that it doesn’t get more love from celebs. I HIGHLY recommend getting a professional match on this one. I went to ULTA and the match to my skin is nearly flawless. Go get this one, ladies. Even if you’re not a foundation person. Your skin will be like “oh thank you so much,” and you’ll feel so much more confident when you do. Grab yours HERE.

  5. Tarte Creaseless Undereye Concealer: Y’all. I was chatting with a friend the other day, just talking about life and all the things, when she stopped me mid-sentence and said “what the heck do you use under your eyes? It looks darn near flawless.” Now, I am not saying she was right. But I am saying that IF she was right, it is 100% because of this little tube of wonder. It’s a heavy-duty shellac type concealer so a little goes a long way and it covers EVERYTHING. My eyes look 1 million times more awake when I use it and it stays all the dang day long. Just a few dots under my eyes after foundation, blended in well with my IT Cosmetics brush, this is my new HG eye saver. I highly recommend for all the tired-eyed moms and ladies out there. Get it HERE.

  6. Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder in Honey: I’ll be the first to admit that this is not a product I use every day. Most days I just blend in the foundation and concealer, dot some cream blush on, and with a few swipes of mascara I’m on my way. But on the days when I do use this, there is a definite difference in both how long my makeup lasts and how it looks. It almost makes you look like you’re being viewed through an airbrush filter, gently blurring imperfections and softening any lines. I just use a quick brush of it over my forehead, nose, and chin and over my eyelids (which tend to get annoyingly oily). It sets everything perfectly and because I use it so sparingly, I’m sure I’ll still have the same container in 2027. Or something like that. Get yours HERE.

  7. e.l.f Contour Cream Palette: Now friends, I am in no way a contour lady. I watch those Tiktok videos where women are painting this nonsense on like warpaint and I am both mildly enthralled and appalled. Y’all, our faces have contours already. Also, who has time for this???? That being said, this palette is the only cheap item on my list, it costs about as much as a latte, and I love the light shade for dropping a quick highlight on my face when I’m feeling shadowy. After I’ve dropped my blush on, I will swipe the lighter shade on the bridge of my nose, the bow of my lip, the top of my cheeks, and the inner and outer corner of my eye. Then I blend. It’s a super-easy way to make myself look more away than I usually do. If I’m feeling over-ambitious, I might even swipe the lightest dark shade under my cheekbones and blend. But if I’m being transparent with you, I don’t notice a difference when I do. It’s not like it magically makes me look like I have model dimensions on my face and seems like an extra step. If this was a high price point item, I would never recommend it. But for a cheap fun little extra, I think it’s totally worth it. Snag it HERE.

  8. IT Cosmetics Lash Blow Out Mascara: I have shared about this mascara miracle before, so I won’t beat a dead horse. But I will say that this mascara makes me look like I have false lashes, it stays on all day, but it comes off easily with just soap and water. I LOVE this product and will never EVER stray from it again. That is all. Get yours HERE.

  9. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk LipKit: I cannot believe that I am sharing this item. I really can’t. I didn’t want to like it. I didn’t want to love it. When I tried it, I wanted it to look terrible. But, sadly, it doesn’t. There is a reason this lip color is a cult favorite. Because it looks damn good on EVERYONE. In full disclosure, I started with just the gloss on accident. I wanted the lipstick but was too impatient to actually open the package to be sure that’s what I was getting. The good news: I loved the gloss so much that I went ALL in and got the lipstick AND the liner. Most days I just swipe the lipstick on and top it with gloss. It is literally the perfect “your lip but better” color. But if I’m going all-out I will do the liner and the whole nine yards. I love how long it stays on, how soft it makes my lips, and the gorgeous slightly pink color it imparts. The hype is real about this one, y’all. And I just don’t think the dupes will do it justice. If you want an everyday amazing nude color, get this one. You won’t regret it. I promise. Grab the full set HERE.

Friends, I know this is a big list with some items you might think are ridiculous. Even I’m laughing at myself over the contour palette. Like who the heck do I think I am??? But I promise you that somewhere on here there is a new holy grail you are going to fall in love with. I just know it. So grab one or two (or three) and let me know how you like them. I love hearing how much you love your WIDW finds. It’s my favorite thing about this series!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
