What I’m Digging Wednesday 1.19

what i'm digging wednesday 1.19

Oh goodness, after a lost week due to COVID, I’m so happy to be bringing you this What I’m Digging Wednesday 1.19, the second one of 2022!

This list is filled with goodies I can’t wait to share with you. It features the nail kit I have been raving about on IG since Christmas, that has turned my nails from a true embarrassment into something of beauty, the puzzle board I got Jeff for Christmas that is a life-saver, a book every human needs to read from an American Icon, and the tank I own in FIVE colors.

This is a tremendous list. I know I say that about all of them, because I love each and everything I choose, but for some reason this one hits different. In all actuality, it’s probably the nail kit, but whatever…

It’s still a good one.

So without further adieu…here is the second segment of the year, What I’m Digging Wednesday 1.19.

what i'm digging wednesday 1.19

  1. The Olive and June The Mani System: If you know me in real life and have ever had the (dis)pleasure of glancing down at my nails, you might have noticed that they were an absolute s$$$show in every way. I have been a nailbiter and cuticle picker for as long as I can remember, #helloanxiety, and my nails were a true trainwreck. Bloody thumbs, ridged nails from damage, just gross. I was constantly embarrassed by my nails and hands and would find that I did everything I could to crop them out of any picture they inadvertently wandered into. Hard as a food blogger, you can imagine. But FB marketing got me good with this Olive and June kit, and I finally bit the bullet, asking for the set for Christmas. Y’all…I can’t EVEN with this one. This kit has single-handedly (see what I did there) saved my nails and hands. I now have a standing self-care date on Sundays when I give myself a mani and this stuff LASTS the entire week, with just topcoat updates every other day. The cuticle cream has saved my jagged mess of nailbeds, and I am no longer embarrassed about my hands. It’s an investment, but so is getting my nails done every week–which is the only way I would NOT bite them in the past. I HIGHLY recommend this kit. So much so that I’m going to do an IG live where I break it down in detail sometime over this week. And by the way, I applied to be an ambassador so I can get some commission from them for sales, but never heard back. So basically, I love this stuff so much that I am sharing it with no kickback comp at all. It matters to me that much that you all get it for yourselves. Oh, and O&J, call me. I should be one of your girls. Grab your kit HERE.

  2. In My Own Words by (the notorious) RBG: For the first time ever, in all of my book sharing posts, I am putting this one out there even before I have turned the last page. It’s that important to me to share it. Now, before you get all “Hey, Meg, your liberal is showing,” I want you to take the politics out of your head and just hear me out. RBG was a damn national treasure. She was so much more than a pearl collar, “I Dissent” t-shirt (which I would venture to guess most people do not understand even IF they are wearing it–I didn’t). She was a trailblazer. A steady, strong, unfettered voice of reason and moderation. Her views surprised me often with their balance and depth and this book has taught me more about the judicial process and system than any Government class I ever took in all my years of schooling. A true education, this book turned some of my ideas about her on their head (especially her thoughts about Roe v. Wade) and I am more in awe of her than I ever EVER thought I would be. Feminists need to read this. Conservatives need to read it. Liberals need to read it. Everyone in our country needs to read it. WHY? Because it reinforces the need for moderation and respect in all conversations. Because it is a love note to the Constitution (and education for most of us as well). And because she was an awesome woman who we can all work towards emulating. Grab it from the library or your local bookshop if you can. If not, here is the Amazon link.

  3. 1000-Piece Woodend Puzzle Board with Drawers: Of all of the gifts I gave Jeff for Christmas, this is the one I chose completely out of the blue, on my own. And the one which I was most proud of. So much so, that I also gifted it to our niece and fellow puzzle-lover, Melissa. For puzzle geeks, this is a lifesaver and gamechanger. It is HUGE, mind you, not something you can just tuck away in a corner. But what it does is allow you complete portability of the puzzle you’re working on, saving space and your coffee table. There are 5 drawers, perfect for piece-sorting and storing, and when you’re not working on the puzzle you can pick it up and move it in-tact to an out of the way spot and get your living room back again. It’s amazing and allows us to work a puzzle for longer, not forcing us to break it down to move it if we’re having company or need the space. If you’re puzzle people, this is something you NEED (not just want). Grab it HERE.

  4. Target A New Day Women’s Rib Knit Tank Top: I am surprised at myself for a lot of reasons on this one, but none more than the fact that I haven’t shared it yet. I have this basic layering tank in five colors. Yes, that’s right FIVE. Grey, white, black, beige and navy blue. I will no doubt get it in five more before my day is done. Because it is the most perfect layering tank in the history of layering tanks. Available in a variety of different colors that change with the seasons (along with the basics), and so dirt cheap it’s almost laughable, this tank is on repeat in my wardrobe. Currently wearing the beige one under a cream cardi for my outfit formula of neutrals as I sit here and write these words. I wear them in a medium, sized up from my usual small, because they are relatively short and I like to front tuck, but other than that, they fit true to size and go with everything. Can be dressed up or down depending on the topper you’re wearing it with, these tanks are a steal every woman needs in her wardrobe. Not a Target affiliate (though I should be) so this is another one I get nothing if you buy but it doesn’t matter, it’s worth it. GO BUY THESE NOW!

See what I mean about this selection being amazing? Just all-around greatness for every single item in this group. I hope you find something to love and if you do, please share it with me! I love when you tell me about your favorite WIDW items!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
