What I’m Digging Wednesday 3.16

what i'm digging wednesday 3.16

Greetings, friends! Welcome to What I’m Digging Wednesday 3.16. By the time you’re reading this, I will be well on my way to the wilds of East Texas as a chaperone for Kenzie’s fifth-grade camping trip.

I know. I know.

You’re thinking to yourself right now, “Wait. The Meaghan I know is outdoorsy only in that she likes hanging out on patios with a drink in her hand.”

This is true. However, we do lots of weird things for our kids, and this is one for me. To be fair, this is more “glamping” than camping, and the biggest challenge for me, by far, will be spending 3 days with people without any alone downtime to recharge my introverted soul. But, alas, I’m excited. And I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this Wednesday list. It’s a good one filled with, as always, my quirky and random faves for the week. I hope you find something to fall in love with, too.

  1. The Outfit Formulas Official Spring Capsule Wardrobe: If you’ve been around for a while and/or follow me on social media, you know that I am slightly obsessed with the Get Your Pretty On Outfit Formulas. I shared a bit about why this idea of dressing each day and giving yourself permission to look pretty hit me so deeply HERE, but the truth is that these outfit formulas have truly changed my life. That being said, Alison also creates seasonal outfit formulas, one each for winter, spring, summer, and fall. With each seasonal formula, you get a full shopping list with 30+ coordinating pieces and links to get them (from multiple stores), a daily outfit calendar to make getting dressed fun and easy, and access to what can only be described as the most supportive and encouraging Facebook group EVER. The SPRING Outfit Formula just dropped for the public on March 11th and I am strongly urging you to join me and thousands of women around the world (all ages, sizes, and locations) and give it a try. This capsule is fun, bright, and springy and I am so excited about it. Join HERE and let me know that you’re hopping in. If you have any questions about how it works or want a deeper explanation, drop me a message. I was a newbie not so long ago so I can help you out with what I know.  I highly recommend signing up for the ANNUAL Membership for all four seasons, BUT, the spring is a great place to start. We start styling on March 28th so don’t wait on signing up, you’ll probably have some closet shopping (and regular shopping) to do to be read. Sign up HERE.

  2. Fairin’ Up Belgian Waffle Mix: One of my children is obsessed with waffles. He asks for one every single day, school day or not. And while I have a pretty great waffle recipe I love to whip up for him when I have time, the truth is that most weekdays I just don’t have it in me to make waffles from scratch. Which would be great if he liked frozen ones, but, as a child spoiled by having a food blogger mom, he’s anti-frozen waffle. Lucky for me (and him), I found this awesome bag of mix that makes the most amazing Belgian Waffles with just the addition of milk and butter. I’m not kidding, I love my recipe but it’s sort of not as delicious as these crispy little breakfast treats. It’s so easy to put together that he can even do it by himself, a tremendous time-saver for me, and this big bag holds enough for about a week’s worth of waffles. I highly recommend this if you have a waffle-loving kid as I do. It’s fun to make waffles from a bag. It’s a unique preparation. And they taste great. Grab your bag HERE and give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

  3. St. Tropez Bronzing Water Mousse: I am many things but tan is not one of them. Instead, I’m more of a pasty, pale ghost of a thing, more likely to scare you off with the shiny glare coming off my legs than evoke thoughts of beachy destinations, pools, and tropical drinks with teeny tiny umbrellas in them. I haven’t always been this way; as a kid I had quite the bronze pool goddess thing going on, spending hours upon hours in my neighbor’s pool until my hair turned green and I was the color of summer. Then, when I was in my twenties the sweet ladies I worked with said “Oh honey, you need to start wearing sunscreen like yesterday” and I have not gone a day since without it. Great for my annual mole checks, not so much for my complexion. Lucky for me sunless tanner is a thing. And this glorious one is my favorite. It’s not the cheapest on the docket, but it’s worth it because it isn’t streaky, it’s easy to use (especially with this mitt–which is another must-have), and it’s never orange. It’s a subtle golden glow, rather than a deep glorious tan, but that works for my starting point. There are some reviews that say it smells bad, but I don’t notice it as much as I do with some others, but just be aware you might notice it with your particular chemistry. A must-have for upcoming shorts season, I love this one and use it just about weekly. Grab yours HERE.

  4. The Adam Project: We didn’t travel for Spring Break. Because of Jeff’s job, we almost never do. For years I was bitter about this and carried around what can only be described as the world’s biggest case of FOMO. But this year I decided it just wasn’t worth it to be envious anymore and instead, I should just focus on what I do have and create some memories here. So that’s what I did. We had a fun little staycation, exploring areas we don’t normally go to and doing lots of family-fun things that even my biggest, whiniest teenager loved (and that’s saying a lot). I was offline for most of them and also think that my family time is sacred and not to be shared with the world, so I didn’t post a lot of it. Just know that it was greatness. And one thing we did was family movie night. I’m going to give Jeff credit for choosing this one because it was all him, but in the end, it was one of our favorite times together. This movie is funny, cute, and family-friendly (with just a few spots of bad language you might need to put some kid earmuffs on for). It’s a time-travel family story, and as weird as that sounds, it makes sense when you watch it. And everyone enjoyed it. As a mom to three kids with every different taste in entertainment and teenage attitudes, a movie that everyone likes is rare, so it is a MUST SHARE for sure. Available on NETFLIX, it’s definitely one you should check out and watch with your fam. (A close second was Uncharted, which we also went to see).

As always, thank you for hanging out with me this Wednesday. I can’t wait to share all of my camping adventures with you next week. In the meantime, say a prayer my introverted self survives and that it is memory-making fodder for me and my girl.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
