what i'm digging wednesday 6.15

Hey Folks! Welcome to What I’m Digging Wednesday 6.15. This is a fun one with some summer finds I’m all about right now.

There is a book all Gen Xers need to read (and fall in love with), the perfect unique summer tote bag for beach, pool, and everyday, the perfect summer hat, and my daily eye shadow stick that never melts, even in the hot Texas heat.

Don’t forget to check out my newest series, The Weekly Edit, it’s a fun quick breakdown of all the outfits I wear in a week–the good, the bad, and the ugly (’cause some aren’t cute, FYI). And, in the meantime, have fun with this one. I know I did.

what i'm digging wednesday 6.15

  1. Amazon Panama Wide Brim Fedora: If you know me IRL (that’s “in real life” for those who aren’t in the know), you know I am a big fan of hats. Not only do they allow me to not fix my hair which I hate to do, but they are an outfit maker, and in the heat of summer the perfect sun protection. So, of course, I have a few summer hats in my collection. This fedora, though, is my favorite by far. It goes with everything, the light straw and black band a neutral (though you can always tie a scarf around the band if it doesn’t match). It’s light so there’s no head sweating. And it’s one easy way to make a summer outfit “extra” without adding layers. In a lot of ways, it’s the denim jacket of warm months. #iykyk The other thing that’s so great about this hat–it’s cheap. So much so that I’m grabbing it in the lighter beige color as well. Grab this summer outfit maker in any color and you’ll be using it on repeat, I promise. It’s such a game changer. Get yours HERE.

  2. The Storyteller by Dave Grohl: The first thing you must know is that I am a child of the 90s. I entered my formative middle school years in 1990 and graduated high school in 1996. I’m talking prime grunge, classic rock, angsty Gen X era. And I loved every second of it. Where I grew up, music ruled our worlds. I remember jamming to The Violent Femmes and REM at our middle school Youth Center dances every Friday night. I remember falling in love with Hey Jude and Light My Fire at parties with my friends in high school. We were the first generation to embrace Nirvana, “moshing” along to a local band playing Smells Like Teen Spirit at halftime during the high school basketball games (why they allowed that, I’ll never know). All of this is to say, a love of Dave Grohl and all he has brought to the music world is in my blood. But what I didn’t expect was to love his book as much as I love his music. Seriously, after reading this I’ve come to believe he might be the most likeable person in the music industry. And he’s just freaking cool. A musicans musican, I love that he didn’t get into the music industry to be famous. He did it because he’s obsessed with the actual music and his rebellious attitude was the perfect fit. Reading like a memoir with chapters tying into his songs and life experiences, this was a fun read. I highly recommend it for anyone of a certain age who grew up on his stuff too. Also, if you watch his episode of “Hot Ones,” you will fall in love some more because he’s HILARIOUS and I loved every second of that interview too. Grab it HERE or find it at your local library or bookstore.

  3. Thrive Eye Brightener Stick in Muna: This is the second time I’ve shared this miracle stick, so you know it’s a good one. The first time was in my make-up must haves post from a year ago. (Yes, I know I need to re-do this post and update my list because it’s for sure changed.) This time, though, I’m sharing it because this little stick that doesn’t budge is a game changer for summer faces. Confession time: I have oily eyelids. Gross and weird, I know. But it’s true. Even in winter, when my skin is drier than the Sahara, my eyeshadow creases halfway through the day, leaving me with an unsightly line of demarcation I can do nothing about. But in the summer, forget about it. I might as well rub Vaseline on my eyelids for how shiny they get. Eyeshadow is but a mere pipedream, something I had sworn off for the season. Until this fun little stick entered into my life. It stays, y’all, it stays all day. The perfect dreamy taupe color, this adds dimension to my eyelids and sticks around with no unsightly line. It comes in a multitude of colors, but no matter which one floats your boat, I highly recommend this little magic maker so your eyes can stay bright all day without the oil slick. Grab yours HERE.

  4. Milano and Lace Raffia Tote: If you haven’t noticed, raffia totes are all the rage right now. On-trend and summer-friendly, it’s everywhere. But, despite a raffia bag being one of the capsule items for the summer capsule, I could never find one I loved. Until I found the perfect bag from my beautiful friends at Milano and Lace. This online boutique was created by two best friends with incredible style and huge hearts. They share fun finds (items from shops all over that speak to their beautifully unique style) and have some amazing exclusive collaborative collections–this bag being one of them. This tote, designed by btb Los Angeles (another female-owned boutique with pieces in Nordstrom and other high-end boutques) is exclusive to M&L and absolutely incredible. It’s lined with linen, sturdy, and covered in the prettiest hand-woven raffia stars. It goes with everything and is so on-trend for summer. I’m so excited to share this one with you and hope you’ll go follow my friends Holly & Lacy and show them some love as a small business with a huge heart. Also, I’m super pumped to share that they are also offering 20% off any order just for my followers using the code ML20. I have my eye on the leather bar necklace (keep your eyes open for a giveaway on this one soon) and think every single one of you needs this tote, too! Grab it HERE and don’t forget to use the code to get your discount!

Thanks for hanging out this Wenesday for this fun list. Be sure to visit my Weekly Edit post from Monday and I’ll see you next week.
