What I’m Digging Wednesday Game Day Edition

what i'm digging wednesday game day edition

Hey y’all! It’s Wednesday and today is a special one. Want to know why? Instead of my normal list of random goodness, this is a very special one. It’s the What I’m Digging Wednesday Game Day Edition.

I know. I know. You are probably scratching your head a big, questioning what a girl who is quite anti-sports could possibly know about game day sports stuff. And there’s validity in this question. BUT, what I lack in knowledge about actual sports, in terms of touchdowns versus first downs versus home runs, I do know about sports event preparedness.

I’m kind of like a prepper. With less doomsday and more game day. If you know what I mean.

Whether you do or not doesn’t matter, really. Because what I put together here is a definitive list of the things that get me through game days. Whether it’s middle school football game day, Aggies game day, or whatever other kind of game day there could possibly be. This is the list. I even have an honorable mention category for this one, which is kind of a big deal.

So, without further adieu, here we go with the What I’m Digging Wednesday, Game Day Edition…

What I’m Digging Wednesday Game Day Edition

  1. SuperGoop Sunscreen Setting Powder: Now, y’all know I’m a diehard sunscreen fanatic. I use it every day, even when it’s cloudy. And I swear that it’s one of the reasons I can sometimes be mistaken for a less mature person. Well, it’s either that or my inability to NOT laugh at potty humor. Either way, I learned early on that sunscreen is a make or break when it comes to your skin and that too much exposure is a recipe for early lines, wrinkles, and sunspots. So I take it seriously. This SuperGoop Powder has been around in a previous WIDW because I love it, but nowhere is it more helpful than on days when you’ll be in the sun for an extended period of time without the ability to reapply a messy tube. This translucent powder packs a mean SPF 50 punch, perfect for setting your makeup before you go out and coming in in the clutch when you need to reset in the stands. PLUS, it helps dampen the shine of a sweaty afternoon on the field, it’s extremely portable, and it ups your protection factor throughout the day. A perfect Game Day purse addition, this is something you need in your life. Grab yours HERE.
  2. Game Day Clear Stadium Crossbody Bag: Without going into a long commentary about how sad it is that we, as a society, are in a place where clear bags are required at large stadiums across the country, I’ll just simply state what we all know: clear bags are required at large stadiums across the country. Consider them a necessary evil and grab yourself one. It will eliminate the hassle of trying to fit everything in your pocket or making a run to the car (which is probably parked two miles away) because you forgot and brought your big Louis. Ain’t nobody got time for that. The good thing about this clear crossbody is you can fit just about everything you’ll need for game day (sunscreen, your phone, some chapstick, and your credit card) and you can swap out the plain old strap for a Game Day appropriate one from one of my friends below. Budget-friendly and easy to customize, grab this one from Amazon HERE.
  3. Game Day Boutiques: Everyone knows that the cutest Game Day clothes don’t come from Amazon, but rather from small boutiques that are better able to curate the best game day collections. I’m lucky to know quite a few shops, all local to the DFW area (but able to ship nationwide) and couldn’t pick just one because they all bring something different to the table. So here are my top 3 small boutiques and WHY;
    1. The Glam Gypsy Boutique: My friend Staci has, by far, the best Game Day outfits in town. The cutest tops, dresses, scarves (oh yes, SCARVES are a thing), and accessories. I didn’t have time to grab one from her before I went down to College Station this past weekend and I regretted it, immensely. She has everything and if you follow her on social, she is great at putting together entire Game Day looks for each local school (and some not-so-local). So give her a follow and shop her awesome Game Day Collection. I’m sure you’re going to find something fab.
    2. Austin James Jewelry: Austin James Jewelry is another local online boutique with the cutest game day jewelry, accessories, and bag straps. In fact, the bag strap I used for my clear bag on gameday last weekend was from AJ and I received so many compliments on it. Above and beyond bag straps, she carries a little bit of everything and her earring collection is to die for. So give her a follow and check out her amazing items. I LOVED my strap.
    3. Carpool Couture: Hyperlocal to Frisco, this new(ish) boutique run by two mom friends is a great resource for all local game day accessories and jewelry. They have a great collection of Griffin and Wakeland jewelry and have outfitted me quite nicely for middle school football game day. You have to join their FB Group to see their wares, but if you’re in town they’re a great spot to get all of your middle and high school spirit wear.
  4. Stadium Ponchos: OK. This is definitely not a fashion piece. But trust me, when you’re stuck in a three-hour rain delay in an open stadium, looking good is the last thing on your mind. So, unless you want to spend $35 on a custom poncho at the stadium, grab a pack before you head out and stuff one in that clear bag of yours (it’ll fit, I promise). It’s definitely a “break glass in case of emergency product” but one you’ll be glad you have on hand just in case. Get your pack HERE.
  5. HONORABLE MENTIONS: Because I couldn’t have survived last weekend without a few more goodies, I thought I would share the list of my honorable mention game day necessities, just in case you were curious.
    1. Addidas Sneaks: In Texas, lots of girls wear adorable cowboy boots to college football games. I am not one of those girls. Instead, I stick with my favorite sneaks which get me through every time. And honestly, tailgating in the boggy mud made it seem like a stroke of genius that I was rocking these kicks when it was really just a coincidence. A true classic wardrobe staple anyway, this is one item on the list that transcends game-day attire.
    2. Insulated Glasses: An insulated, lidded glass is a must-have for proper tailgating (unless you’re wannabe fancy in a catered tent like we were). And no matter what your bevie of choice, is, there is an option for you. Wine, Beer, and even coffee mugs all exist with LIDS, (don’t judge–I needed it for the early game), so make sure to pack your insulated cup before you head out.
    3. Stadium Seat: Listen, bleachers of any kind hurt your butt. No matter how old you are, fit you are, or how much cushion you’ve got to soften the blow, bleachers suck. So if you know ahead of time that you’re going to be stuck in one for the eternity that is a college football game, a stadium seat is a must-have. This one comes with customizable college colors and logos and is nice and padded so your nether regions will be happy the entire game long. Trust me. You need this.

Thanks for hanging out with me for this fun Game Day Edition of WIDW. Next week we’ll return to regularly scheduled programming with another list of random fun, but in the meantime, Gig ‘Em, Hook ‘Em, or Put Your Guns Up.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
