What I’m Digging Wednesday 4.13

what i'm digging wednesday 4.13

Whew. It’s Easter week. We’ve survived halfway through April with all of its showers, hail, and on-brand 2022 chaos. And now it’s time for What I’m Digging Wednesday 4.13.

This is a great little list, a little random like always, but filled with wonderful things for you to treat yo’ self with (or someone else). Maybe for an Easter basket or Mother’s Day gift (don’t worry, I’ll put together a big list of Mother’s Day goodies for y’all, too), these are all giftable things everyone could fall in love with.

what i'm digging wednesday 4.13

  1. Vintage Havana Sneakers: So some in the more trendy sector will give this one a serious eye roll because, rumor has it, they are “so last year.” But that doesn’t change the fact that every single time I wear mine someone compliments me on my shoes. So, I don’t know. Maybe trends are overrated? Or for the young? Whatever. I’ve had these for about six months now and, trendiness withstanding, they are my favorite slip-ons for everyday wear. They go with everything, are a little bit more fun than my basic Addidas (though I love those classics, don’t get me wrong), and once again, did I mention the compliments? They’re not the most cushioned shoes on the face of the planet, so if you need extra support they might not be for you. But considering they are more a fashion item and less of a comfort shoe, I can live with the less-than-extra padding because I never once thought to myself “I should go walk a few miles in these.” It’s all about knowing when and where to wear them. That’s all. My exact shoes aren’t available any longer, but these from Amazon are pretty darn close with cuter laces, too. And while these are full price, you can get a slightly different pair at Nordstrom Rack for about $50 less, and that’s nothing to sneeze at. If you’re into the exact look, check these out. If there’s no shame in your discount game, run on over to Nordstrom Rack here and take a look at what they have to offer. Either way, these are great for summer and would look perfect with shorts and a tee or even a cute dress. Grab them now.

  2. Tervis Tumbler 16 ounce with lid: If you have ever seen me in real life out and about town, you probably know that I go almost nowhere without a giant cup of water. And not just any cup of water, mind you, but a giant Tervis Tumbler with a red lid and a metal straw (featured in THIS WIDW a few months ago).  I am the Pavlov’s dog of driving and need two things with me at all times, almost craving them the moment my engine turns over, a sip of water and a mint (more on the mints in some other episode). I carry this red-lidded tumbler into stores, into restaurants (well, UP at least), and friends’ houses. It’s more of a companion to me than my children are. Now my particular tumbler says Vital Farms on it because I like to steal Jeff’s work swag, but any plain old Tervis will do, folks. Any plain old one is better than a normal cup. Why? You ask. Because they are double-walled to keep your drink cold (or hot), don’t sweat all over the place, and last forever. For real, these things are like the energizer bunny of cups. Yes, I know everyone loves a YETI, but Tervis tumblers are cheaper by far and have a lot of the same good points for way less. So, if you are a Pavlov’s dog for car waters, grab yours HERE and thank me later.

  3. Maybelline SuperStay Lip Crayon: I am forever on the hunt for the perfect lip color. Some women are searching for the holy grail mascara and some are on the hunt for a foundation. ME? I’ve found those things (check out my beauty must-haves for those–though I’ve got one big new one for foundation coming soon). But lip color? Not so much. I just want a neutral slightly pink, but not too much, my-lips-but-better, lipstick that lasts longer than one hour. Is that too much to ask, makeup people? I really need to know. Anyway, rant over. But, still. I am constantly looking for new lipsticks, glosses, and pencils always hoping the next one will be THE one. So when a friend recommended this little crayon by Maybelline I was all in for trying it. It’s cheap (a lot cheaper than my current lip, Charlotte Tilbury) and it comes in a ton of colors. And I was not disappointed. The crayon glides on smooth, much smoother than a pencil, with a full-coverage color that doesn’t feel dry or cakey. It settles well, with no bleeding and the shape allows you to both line and color with one product. The best part, though? It does last. While not all day, it does go through my constant water drinking (#seeabove) and even a latte or two. For a cheap pencil, I can grab it in one million colors, I love it and highly recommend it. Available at most Targets, Wal-Marts, and drug stores or you can get a bunch on Amazon, HERE.

  4. Tula 24-7 Moisture: I have been an IT Cosmetics Moisturizer champion for ages. I still love it. Always will. But recently, I needed to grab a travel-size moisturizer for a trip back home and there wasn’t a sample size of IT anywhere at my local ULTA. In a last-minute rush (because I am nothing if not last minute) I grabbed a little travel-size of this moisturizer with low expectations, rationalizing that the trip was only 4 days long so who really cares if it’s the worst? Well, y’all, I now know why this is a cult favorite. This light and gentle moisturizer kept my skin soft and supple with a beautiful glow during my trip. It’s slightly lighter than the IT cream, making it perfect for hot Texas summers, and doesn’t leave a greasy residue even on the sweatiest days. It’s not a magic cream, there are no powerhouse anti-aging ingredients or anything clinical in here, but it’s just the perfect level of moisture in one do-all cream. As a less-is-more kind of gal, I can totally get behind that. For the hot summer months I’ll be definitely using this in place of my HG IT cream and who knows, it works so well I might never go back to the thicker one. Though we’ll see about that. Grab your jar HERE.

Thanks so much for hanging out with me on another Wednesday, and checking out some new things to fall in love with. I hope you all have a beautiful Easter weekend if you celebrate. And I’ll see you back here next week, same time, same place.

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
