  1. Junk Food Clothing “Get Back Tee:” I have always been a sucker for a band tee. Not only are they on-trend, but the inner hippie in me doesn’t stop with composting, making my own almond milk, and having 1000000 plants in my house. It also extends to the music I grew up on and the music I listen to today. I cut my teeth on Beatles Brunch on the local oldies station every Sunday morning while I cleaned my room. My middle school self was all about the Violent Femmes, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, and, of course, Nirvana once they came around. Not much has changed, and neither have I. I’m a classic rock junkie who is about as anti-pop music as one can be. The only problem I have, though, is band shirts usually are pretty trite. Meaning, that everyone and their mother has the same one (I’m looking at you, Rolling Stones tee from Target). And while I love the idea, I also love having unique finds and not looking like the whole world. So when a friend introduced me to Junk Food Clothing I was ALL in. This California brand is famous for making unique vintage-inspired tees that fit and feel amazing. Count me as SOLD. So this “Get Back” tee will be on repeat in my closet once it arrives, a homage to my oldie station days. I also have a Grateful Dead tee on order because, well, everyone in my high school had one and it’s very nostalgic to me. So if you love a band tee but don’t like looking the same as everyone else, check out Junk Food and find the perfect graphic to fit your personality. Check them out HERE.

  2. Amazing Greens Superfood Blend: So last week I shared the new Ninja Blender Jeff got that has turned our home into a makeshift Smoothie Shop. And this week I thought I would share the superfood powder I’ve been using in my smoothies to get TWO extra servings of greens each day without having to, you know, actually eat TWO extra servings of greens each day. Y’all, I love this stuff. One scoop of this light green powder in each smoothie gives you greens, spirulina, beetroot powder, chlorella, digestive enzymes, and probiotics. It doesn’t add a grassy taste to my smoothies and dissolves completely so there is no powdery residue. My favorite way to use it is in a smoothie with bananas, mango, pineapple, and almond milk. For the kids, I add berries because the red cancels out the green (and they’re none the wiser). If you’re a smoothie lover like I am or just want to start adding more greens gently back into your diet, I recommend getting some Amazing Greens and seeing what you think. They come in multiple different flavors and varieties, but I can only personally vouch for the original. If you have experience with one of the others, I’d love to hear! Grab yours HERE.

  3. This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel: I ventured into new territory this week by sharing my first ever full book review of this book, This Is How It Always Is. So this is not only a shameless plug for my new series (which will be carried over onto my lifestyle blog launching in the fall) but also another plug for this amazing book that I think should be required reading for all humans. A tender story about a family dealing with gender identity issues, this book will break your heart and knit it back together again, multiple times. Without forcing an agenda or politicizing this issue, you get an insider’s look into the hearts and minds of a family going through something that is, in our culture, reduced to sound bites and talking points. A gently written story filled with love and honesty, this brave book is a must-read. Go check out my review and then grab the book HERE.

  4. E.L.F Flawless Face Brush Collection: I have a collection of makeup brushes that I spent a ridiculous amount of money on. For real, I’m almost embarrassed to admit how much money I dropped on them because the sales consultant told me that these brushes were the only way I would ever achieve the flawless look I have been trying to get since 1989. Now, to be fair, they were good. Did I ever reach “flawless” status? Nope. I did not. Probably never will. But I liked them and they seemed to work just fine. UNTIL one particular brush started shedding long bristles on my face during application. Then it started shedding long bristles just because, leaving them around my bathroom sink like little unwanted presents. Then, in one dramatic act of final defiance, over half of the bristles came out in my hand as I was washing the brush last week. In one giant clump. It was gross and a little fascinating. Unfortunately, this is also a brush I use daily, and knew I needed to replace it. But, given the quality for the price was low, I decided to grab something cheaper to just get me through. So on a trip to Ulta, I grabbed the ELF Blender Brush, thinking it would just suffice until I figured out a better option. The amazing thing, though? This brush is miles better than the more expensive one and the bristles actually stay in the brush and don’t decorate my cheeks. I am so enamored I just ordered the entire Flawless Face kit from ELF and plan on replacing all of my brushes with these budget-friendly options. If you’re in the market for new brushes, or just think you might prefer a cheaper option, I highly recommend these. They even have an entire face kit with every brush you could ever need, so if you’re a makeup pro, this might be the one to grab. Get them HERE!

Thank you, as always, for hanging out with me every Wednesday and loving these weird and quirky lists as much as I do. I am so grateful for each and every one of you!

Peace, love, and Wednesdays,
Meg
